The Lives of Saints
and Sinners (2012)
Zoe Thiessen's debut album The Lives of Saints and Sinners (2012, Independent) is a vibrant collection of country/folk.
With breadth of sound and feeling, Thiessen displays both humor and heartache. She has been described as 'a gentler Lucinda Williams,' and her earthy country sound comes through in the toe-tapping, defiant 'Ain't Got Nothing on Me' and the dark ballad 'Final Days.' Other tunes, such as the breezy 'A Room with a View,' and aching 'Sharp as a Nail' have an indie folk sound reminiscent of Feist, while 'A Most Spectacular Song' and 'Temptation' are pure folk, with simple, elegant storytelling. The Lives of Saints and Sinners is produced by juno award-winning producer Steve Dawson.
